An introduction to Future Interactive Technologies
A Technocamps Workshop for Year 8-9 pupils

Time:
9.00am - 3.00pm
Venue: Swansea University
Speaker: Fernando Loizides

Gadgets are everywhere. Mobile phones, watches, palmtops and little shiny things that no-one is sure exactly what it does but bought because it looks nice. Technologies of the future are also advancing in areas such as travel, medicine and communications.

Students will be introduced to interesting new technologies and they will be able to peek into the future by getting to play with some of the technologies researched at the university such as GPS tracking, mobile applications and robots. Furthermore, the students will be shown in very simple terms how to program certain functions of the robot and interact with it.

A presentation with future concepts and real life problems with existing technologies will be given and discussed, by asking what the students would do to deal with certain situations and any ideas they have for improving the future.

This event is supported by Careers Wales, and the department of Computer Science at Swansea University.
