Public Lecture - Press On

Time: 5.30pm - 6.30pm
Venue: Taliesin Arts Centre, Swansea
Speaker: Professor Harold Thimbleby

From cash machines to mobile phones, from games to medical devices... it seems we can't do anything without pressing a button. In this lecture, Professor Harold Thimbleby asks how interactive devices are designed to be usable, and how will things get better - or worse - in the future.

Professor Harold Thimbleby joined the Computer Science department at Swansea University in 2005 to establish the Future Interaction Technology Laboratory - FIT Lab. He has just published his latest book, Press On (MIT Press, 2007).

This distinguished lecture will be of interest to anybody who has wondered how devices are designed, why sometimes they are so frustrating, and how future devices will be improved.
